The Excalibur is the cheapest hotel on the strip that you’d want to stay at. Because of that, it has got a reputation for being cheap. When people hear the word cheap, they think it’s not as good. Well, the Excalibur is just as good as some of the more expensive hotels. While it not be quite as elegant as the expensive places, it will definitely satisfy the average vacationers needs.
Like most hotels in Las Vegas, the Excalibur has a theme. The theme is very clear once you see the hotel: it looks like a castle. It’s hard to go anywhere in the Excalibur without feeling like you are in the middle ages. So, if that’s not your thing, then you might be annoyed staying here. If you like castles and knights, then this is definitely your kind of hotel.
One of the particularly special things that the Excalibur offers is a Medieval Wedding. They provide you with costumes from the Renaissance period. That means: tons of frills. It’s a really fun wedding experience. Now, it’s not for everyone. This is very far from the traditional; unless you are talking about the very traditional. So, if you’re willing to make the greatest day of your life Medieval, then you can have a lot of fun here.
Now, not everyone goes to a hotel in Las Vegas to get married. Most everyone goes to these hotels to gamble. The Excalibur provides quite a bit of gambling. It’s pretty much like gambling inside of a castle. If that sounds like fun, then this place is for you. If it sounds a little annoying, then you can always just walk to one of the other casinos on the strip and still enjoy the cheap room.
The customer service at the Excalibur has been complimented over and over again. I find it strange that a hotel has to be very cheap for the service to be as good as this. It seems like it should be the other way around. Anyway, they will treat you like a king or queen here.
They offer a $24.95 buffet. That price is the same all day long. Now, this is actually the one thing that bugs me about the hotel. They make a big deal about how this is such a great deal for a buffet. It’s almost as much as their room. This is not a great deal. In fact, most of the buffets in Las Vegas cost this much. So, don’t get fooled by this offer. Especially since there are better buffets elsewhere.
Still, the Excalibur offers most of the things you expect out of a hotel in Las Vegas, and they do it for a very low price. This low price does not mean that you are staying in dirty place. It’s very clean and very nice.
It’s definitely worth more than what they charge. Here’s one of their rooms, not as big as some others but if you’re from outside the US all the rooms in Vegas will seem big!
If you’re someone who doesn’t like to spend a lot of time in their room on holiday then the Excalibur is perfectly fine. If you want a little more room and perhaps more luxury then there are plenty of others to choose from. Las Vegas has one of the biggest choices of hotels in the world so shop around and find a hotel and casino that’s good for you.
So, if you want a great deal and like castles, then the Excalibur is the place for you.
We stayed at Excalibur in 2014 and are returning in April 2015. Although it may not be the most posh place around, we have gotten great deals on flight & hotel packages here, and the only time we really spend in the hotel is sleeping, grabbing a quick bite or hanging out at the pool, all of which Excalibur is great for.
The food court has a good variety of affordable and even some healthy options, the pool area is really nice with 4 pools and lots of sun, and it’s right on the strip so it’s easy to hop on a bus to head down to Fremont or the arts district, or a short cab ride to the off-strip hotels. We even take the city bus to and from the airport and it’s a very quick ride and much cheaper than a cab, and you don’t get scammed as we have been a couple of times by cab drivers taking us the long way around on the highway when there was no reason to.
Only downside to Excalibur (maybe all hotels are the same?) is that they really try to hard sell you on stuff in the lobby of the hotel, but you quickly learn to ignore those folks and get on with your day.
