Sometimes called the James Bond system, the Labouchere System is a negative progression system of playing roulette, where you increase the amount of your bets when you lose. In theory, you’ll cover your losses this way when you finally win.

To explain this system, first take out a pencil and write down a sequence of numbers. For the sake of this example, we’ll use 1,2,3,3,4 as our sequence. Add the first and last number to arrive at the amount you will bet; in this case, our bet will be $5.
If you get lucky and you win your spin, you’re going to cross off of the sequence the numbers you used – in this case 1 and 4 – and bet the sum of the “new” first and last numbers – in this case, 2 + 3 = 5, so $5 is the bet.
You keep going in this way until you have one number left; that will be your last bet.
Unless Lady Luck has blessed you spectacularly well, you’re not going to win all the time, however, so what do you do then? Well, when you lose, you add the number on to the end of the sequence. In the case of our example, you would add 5 to the end of that sequence, as 1 + 4 = 5. When you finish one sequence, you can begin a new one.
So the theory behind this betting strategy is basically that since you remove two numbers off the list for every win, and add one number for every loss – you can complete the list and cross out all the numbers you will win your desired amount.
When you’re deciding on your sequence, remember: the larger the numbers, the larger the potential profits, but the larger the potential risks. A prolonged losing streak can be very hard to bear, both emotionally and financially.
Like other systems, the Labouchere system won’t tip the odds in your favor. Chance is immune to any sort of mathematical system you choose to place upon it.
At best, a system such as this can add rhythm and method to your betting, helping you keep control of your bankroll and your budget. Play wisely, as always, and keep your budgetary limits firmly in your sights. The Labouchere System may be called the James Bond system, but most players don’t have the famous spy’s expense account.

I’ve only played it a few times and have won small amounts. There’s no guarantee and it doesn’t give any sort of mathematical advantage. It does keep your bets pretty disciplined though as long as it doesn’t spoil your enjoyment. I got pretty fed up of keeping track to be honest.
